The Chisel is the lightest and fastest alloy full suspension bike in its class, delivering 18.4% weight savings compared to the closest competitor. It shares geometry and kinematics from Specialized's World Cup-ready Epic 8 mountain bike, providing performance whether you're racing or enjoying local trail rides. Thanks to D'Aluisio Smartweld technology, the Chisel features the lightest aluminum XC frameset in its class. Each frame tube is highly manipulated with continuously-varied wall thicknesses and shaping that deliver stiffness for efficiency and compliance for comfort and control. The Chisel is equipped with 110mm of Ride Dynamics tuned suspension, inheriting advanced suspension kinematics and progressive geometry directly from the Epic 8 World Cup race machine. This heritage makes it capable of handling varied terrain with confidence and speed. Efficiency is a core strength of the Chisel, thanks to geometry and kinematics derived from the Epic 8 platform. The steep seat tube positions the rider in an optimal pedaling position, while honed anti-squat reduces pedal-bob, translating every watt into maximum forward motion. The Chisel features a flex stay rear end design that delivers class-leading suspension performance while eliminating the extra weight and maintenance of traditional pivot designs. Extensive field and lab testing prove that the Chisel achieves the efficiency, control, and light-weight characteristics of a flex stay design in advanced alloy construction. A one-piece hydroformed seat tube integrates the seat tube pivot, main pivot, and BB shell, shaving extra material and weight compared to traditional designs where these components are welded separately.
